Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) partnered with the Pennsylvania State Police, Uniontown Police Department, Fayette County Commissioners, and the Highway Safety Network today to raise awareness on the dangers of driving impaired. ![]() ![]() PennDOT, Police and Safety Partners Raise Awareness on the Dangers of Driving Impaired The project is anticipated to be completed in October 2027. This work is part of a $120.6 million project involving the widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). To accommodate the new interchange, the project includes one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51. The project involves several intersecting roadways including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. Golden Triangle Construction Company was awarded the bid. Work to include but not limited to strip seal dam replacements, concrete blister work, blasting, painting and steel repairs to the superstructure. The single-lane restrictions are necessary to allow crews to perform rehab work on the Matthew Smelser Memorial Bridge. The current westbound Interstate 70 single-lane restrictions will remain in place. ![]() Uniontown, PA – PennDOT District 12 would like to inform motorists that eastbound Interstate 70 single-lane restrictions between Exit 46 A/B (Route 51) and Exit 49 (Smithton) are scheduled to begin in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County on Thursday, June 22 through the end of August, weather and operational dependent.
